What is the appropriate grieving period for the loss of a sock?  How long should I hang on to the odd one, wondering if its better half is going to change its mind and come crawling back? Say it was all just a big mistake?

Looking at my lingering collection of singles, it is clear that I need to learn to let go and get on with my life.
